We're excited to roll out our new monthly chapter meeting format!

Our intent is to have a meeting at the same date, time and location every month (except December) so members can plan ahead. We provide the food. You provide the beverages. And everyone provides the interaction and content.

Here's the general format:

  • Welcome
    • 15 minutes for people to get settled and get food and/or beverages
  • Networking
    • 15 minutes of a facilitated exercise related to the program theme
  • Presentations
    • 60 - 90 minutes of short presentations (5 - 15 minutes) related to a specific theme.
    • Some speakers will be chosen ahead of time.
    • Some speakers will be chosen from the participants.
    • Presentations are intended to be content-rich and provide nuggets of information.
    • Presentation modality will be chosen prior to the meeting. May include open space, World Cafe, speed PPT, etc. and all will be timed.
  • More Networking and Collegiality
    • This is an opportunity to learn and participate in emerging training methodologies.
    • It’s also an opportunity to learn and become exposed to new ideas (with less time investment!)
    • All this while still enjoying the collegial environment and networking opportunities you’ve come to expect from our events!

Theme for September 2018Enlightening the Skeptic:  Overcoming Objections to Training

Does this sound familiar:

  • Have you ever been asked to fit two days of content into a one hour training?
  • Justifying why a training is necessary in the first place?
  • Being told now’s a bad time for training (and it’s always a bad time)?
  • Dealing with individuals who don’t understand why a needs assessment is necessary?
  • Explaining why you need more development time?

It’s familiar to us too! And if you’ve ever stood there wondering how to respond (and why on earth you need to make these justifications in the first place!), this event is perfect for you.

Come prepared to share your most common objections and your best counterpoints, as we share best practices and test drive ideas in a safe environment with creative role play. You’ll leave feeling prepared to overcome any objection and influence even your most reluctant stakeholder.activities and memories of some good times with new and familiar colleagues.

If you are interested in being a part of the presentations, please email the ATD office at info@tdcascadia.org.
