We will explore current trends and topics through small group discussions based on a shared resource, article, video, or podcast selected by a chapter member. We invite you to bring your ideas, experience, or questions to what we hope will be engaging sessions!

Join us for this special interactive (and reflective) workshop.

Whether we’re working with teams, clients, or leaders, we are tasked with continuously navigating uncertain and complex relationships.

Our world is complex by nature, yet our nature as a human being is also complex. The good news is we are perfectly suited to live and thrive in this complexity. In this fast-paced, interconnected, and uncertain world, we often unwittingly fall into mind traps that result in us feeling stuck, or worse, taking action that is in the opposite direction from what the situation calls for.

By the end of this workshop you will be able to:

    • identify five pervasive mind traps and ways to escape them
    • examine your own mind traps
    • identify habits to avoid mind traps altogether
    • describe ways to lead with clarity, purpose and compassion

    Intended Audience:

    • Anyone who wants to develop their cognitive skills by taking different perspectives
    • Anyone who wants to explore how we make sense of the world as an interconnected whole
    • Anyone who wants to refine their decision making skills
    • Anyone interested in interested in unlocking their own potential

Julie Gefroh, owner of Golden Thread Coaching, provides developmental and somatic 1:1 coaching; she also offers learning programs in the art of navigating our inner complexity. Through her programs, participants uncover innate resourcefulness and creativity, opening fresh ways to respond to the complexity and challenges of work and life.

Julie spent two decades working in the athletic and outdoor industries in international sales and operations, the last six in the tech sector managing Customer Success teams, and as an internal coach and leadership development facilitator. With a long history of environmental and sustainability focus, she also assists companies in navigating the complexity of pursuing B Corp certification. In her free time, she enjoys many hobbies, including dancing, cooking, hiking, camping, and mushroom hunting, and is always reading multiple books simultaneously.

Registration includes both 90-minute sessions, along with summary notes and resources.

    WHAT YOU’LL GAIN

    • Guidance from our experienced facilitators
    • New insights from new professional friends
    • Smiles and surprises
    • Informational resources
    • Practical examples

The ATD-Cascadia Learning Leaders Special Interest Group (SIG) is an informal discussion group where Talent Development leaders can talk about their challenges, successes, and what they are learning along the way. Our desire is to build a community of learning leaders who share best practices and feel supported in their work.

Please join us during the first Tuesday of every month at Noon for an hour of sharing insights and support with your colleagues.

By attending the Learning Leaders SIG, you will have an opportunity to:

    • Connect with other learning leaders to share current issues
    • Gain actionable insights on delivering a talent development strategy
    • Receive valuable advice and support from your peers

    Intended Audience

Talent Development Leaders (managers and above) who are members or future members of ATD-Cascadia.

By talent development, we are specifically looking for those who:

    • Manage a staff of trainers, instructional designers, learning designers
    • Lead the learning and development function for an organization
    • Serve as external consultants who advise on talent development strategy
    • Have positions such as: Manager/Director of L&D/Training, Chief Learning Officer, Head of Talent Development, or HR leaders responsible for Talent Development

If you are not in a formal L&D leadership position, but want “a peak behind the curtain,” feel free to reach out to Dan Vetter or Dan Bilderback to learn more about this group and see if it is something that appeals to you.

    Dan Bilderback, CPTD

Dan has been working in the field of Talent Development since 2006 and is currently the Director of Talent Development at SELCO Community Credit Union, based in Springfield, OR. In his spare time, Dan is a part time professional musician who loves traveling, wine tasting, and playing music with his wife, Corrina. Their border collie, Milo, keeps them active and happy!

    Dan Vetter, CPTD

Dan has been improving human performance for 35 years. For 12 years he worked inside a Fortune 500 company developing and facilitating workshops for thousands of participants.
